William Bonnick Obituary

Bonnick, William A., Colonel, USAR (Ret.), 87, of Warwick, passed away on Friday, March 24, 2023 at Rhode Island Hospital.

He was the beloved husband of Joan L. (Carpenter) Bonnick and the late Beatrice S. (Muschiano) Bonnick.  Born in Providence, a son of the late William H. and Veronica M. (Grigelevich) Bonnick.  He was a resident of Warwick for sixty-five years.

Mr. Bonnick was employed as a salesman at the former CI Hayes Inc. and Hayes Heat Treating.  He was a retired Colonel of the United States Army Reserves, inducted into the United States Army Field Artillery School OCS Hall of Fame at Fort Sill, Oklahoma in 2008, to then later be inducted into the United States Army Officer Candidate School Hall of Fame in 2017.  A graduate of Providence College in 1984, as well as a graduate of the United States Army Command and General Staff College in 1975 and was a Scout Master for BSA Troop 100 Warwick, Rhode Island.  Bill enjoyed being an avid sailor for most of his life, traveling extensively in the United States and abroad with his wife, Joan, loved to ski and play golf.

Besides his wife, he leaves two children, Valerie M. (Bonnick) Monopoli and her husband Peter of New Port Richey, Florida and Thomas W. Bonnick and his wife AnnMarie (Ricci) of Smithfield; a sister, Margaret A. Salter-Agans in Florida; four grandchildren, Peter A. Monopoli, Jr., Sara E. Bonnick, Justin T. Bonnick and Adam T. Bonnick; two step-grandchildren, Amanda J. Amirault-Capuano and Lauren E. Amirault and a step-great grandson, Nicholas J. Capuano.

Colonel Bonnick’s funeral service with military honors at Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery will be private.  Visiting hours are respectfully omitted.  Information and condolences, please visit: www.henault-gallogly.com
