Maria Conceicão (Gil) Prudencio, 81, of Bennett Street, Coventry, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family, on Saturday morning, June 6, 2026.
She was the beloved wife of Manuel D. Prudencio. Together they shared forty-seven years of marriage marked by devotion, love, and unwavering commitment.
Born in São Mateus, Terceira, Azores, she was a daughter of the late José Pereira Gil and Maria Lurdes (Sousa) Gil. Maria immigrated to the United States and resided in West Warwick for many years before making her home in Coventry in 1993.
Maria was employed by Victor Electric for nineteen years and later worked for Leviton Manufacturing for two years before retiring in 2008. She was a hardworking and dedicated woman who took great pride in providing for her family.
Above all else, Maria cherished the time she spent with her loved ones. Whether gathered around the table for family celebrations or enjoying the simple moments of everyday life, her family was always the center of her world. She also enjoyed sewing, a hobby through which she expressed her creativity and care for others. A devoted supporter of Benfica, she rarely missed an opportunity to follow her favorite team. Maria was also a faithful communicant of St. Anthony Church, where her strong faith remained an important part of her life.
Besides her husband, she leaves her loving children, Elizabeth Prudencio and Emanuel Prudencio; her siblings, Joaô Sousa Gil, Luis Sousa Gil and Lucia Rocha and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will miss her dearly. She was the sister of the late Maria Avila and Jose Sousa Gil.
Her funeral will be held Friday, June 12, 2026, at 10:00 AM from the PRATA-GALLOGLY Funeral Home, 78 Providence Street, West Warwick, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM in St. Anthony Church, Sunset Avenue, West Warwick.
