Joseph T. Zabatta

Joseph T. Zabatta, 76, of Coventry, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family Easter morning, March 31, 2024 at home.

He was the beloved husband of Irene T. (Dauphinais) Zabatta, they had been married for fifteen years.  Born in Providence, a son of the late Joseph and Pasqualena (Lepre) Zabatta.

Joe was employed by the Town of West Warwick Highway Department for twenty-five years before retiring in 1998 as the Director.  He was a Vietnam War Army Veteran, an antique car enthusiast and a New York Yankees and New York Giants fan.

Besides his wife he leaves a daughter, Andrea L. Zabatta; three granddaughters, Casie Gil, Emily Gil, Jadyn Gil; a grandson, Mason Gil; three step-children, Bernadette Sheldon, George Sanford, Diane Sanford and her significant other Michael Lombari; four step-grandchildren, Don Sheldon III, Kalynn Sheldon, Breanna Sanford, Lyndsay Lombari; two step-great grandchildren, Ava Gadreault and Grace Gadreault and two sisters, Dianna Walsh and Maria Murphy.

His funeral will be held Thursday, April 4, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. from the PRATA-GALLOGLY Funeral Home, 78 Providence Street, West Warwick followed by interment with military honors in Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery at 12:30 p.m.  Visiting hours Wednesday, 4:00-7:00 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, contributions to the American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org/donate) in his memory would be appreciated.  Information and condolences, please visit: www.PrataGallogly.com
