Jose D. Gil

GIL, Jose D., 83, formerly of West Warwick, passed away Monday, October 19, 2020 at Riverview Healthcare Community, Coventry.

He was the beloved husband of the late Maria (Furtado) Gil, who died in 1998.  Born in Terceira, Azores, a son of the late Jose and Maria (Sousa) Gil.

Mr. Gil was a machine operator in the textile industry for many years until retiring.  Prior to coming the United States he was a fisherman in the Azores.  He was a member of the Portuguese Holy Ghost Society.

He is survived by his three children, Dora Howe and her husband Joseph of Pascoag, Paul J. Gil of West Warwick and Lisa Figuerado and her husband Dean of Coventry and three grandchildren, Joseph and Jacob Howe and Dorian Figuerado.   Also survived by his siblings, Maria (Gil) Prudencio and husband Manuel Prudencio of Coventry, Luis Gil of New Bedford, MA, Joao Gil of Terceira, Azores and Lucia (Gil) Rocha and her husband Francisco Rocha of West Warwick.  

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, October 26, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Anthony Church, Sunset Avenue, West Warwick (all COVID-19 guidelines will be observed).  Due to the pandemic visiting hours are respectfully omitted and interment will be private.  In lieu of flowers contributions to Home Health & Hospice Care of Nursing Placement, 334 East Avenue, Pawtucket, RI 02860 in his memory would be appreciated.  Information and condolences please visit: www.PrataGallogly.com
