PICARD, Richard E., Sr., 79, of Briarwood Road, Cranston, passed away on Wednesday, May 2, 2018.
He was the beloved husband of Mildred A. (Muschiano) Picard. Born in Scituate, he was the son of the late Donat and Mary (Szynal) Picard.
A United States Army veteran, Mr. Picard served during the Korean War Era. He was the owner of Fish Bowl Aquarium, West Warwick for 32 years where he loved working with people and animals. His business started as a hobby with two guppies in his basement and expanded to a business with over 200 fish tanks and pets of all kinds. In his youth he worked on the water as a quahogger and enjoyed fishing both as a hobby and a sport. An avid gardner, he loved the beauty of nature and enjoyed caring for plants and watching things grow. In 2017 he accomplished his long time goal of acquiring his real estate license and was enjoying learning about the trade and meeting new people. He always put his heart into everything he did in life, big or small and often went out of his way to help others. He was always there to lend a helping hand or share a laugh and he will be deeply missed.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, Dr. Richard E. Picard, Jr. and his wife Allison of West Greenwich.
