Hampton R. Woodhouse

There has been a disturbance in the force. Can you feel it?  A much-loved being in this galaxy has ascended to the next plane of existence. 

Hampton Woodhouse passed away peacefully on Wednesday August 8th. He was surrounded by his wife, children, siblings and friends, who were all sharing stories of his extraordinary life. And what a life it was! Loving husband for 45 years to his wife and best friend, Sarah (Robertson).  Wonderful father to his three children: Lisa, Fiona, and Richard.  Mischievous grandpa to Brady, Thayden, Bowen, Corbin, and Ethan.  And a welcoming Father-In-Law to Andrew, Gil, and Joanna.  Born in Yorkshire, England, he was the son of the late Rev. Hector D. Woodhouse and Elsie (Hives) Woodhouse.  Also survived by three siblings, David Woodhouse, Margaret Bell and Andrew Woodhouse all in England and nieces and nephews.

Ham was a one-of-a-kind character with a warm heart and a smile for all who met him. He devoted 30 years to his work as a toy designer and inventor for Hasbro Inc., where he contributed his playful spirit and creativity to such beloved brands as Star Wars, Transformers, Spiderman, and Ghost Busters. 

Ham was a tinkerer and a nature lover. A true renaissance man, he was an excellent cook, legendary fisherman, a talented photographer and illustrator, and a craftsman of wooden furniture and precious metal jewelry. His generous spirit led him to become an active volunteer as a Boy Scout Troop Leader and also within his church. 

Master Hampton’s passion for work and life extended in all directions. The force ran strong in him and was felt by all those around him. May his force spirit be with you. 

Visiting hours will be held SUNDAY, August 12, 2018 from 2:00 – 5:00 pm in the PRATA-GALLOGLY Funeral Home, 78 Providence Street, West Warwick.  His funeral service will be held TUESDAY, August 14, 2018 at 5:00 pm in the Riverpoint Congregational Church, 75 Providence Street, West Warwick.  Interment will be private.
