MAGIERA, Mary E. “Betty” (Francis), 88, of Earl Street, West Warwick, passed away peacefully on Sunday evening, January 21, 2018 at Kent Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
She was the wife of the late Bernard F. “Benny” Magiera. Born in West Warwick, she was the daughter of the late Charles J. and Bertha (Andrews) Francis.
Mrs. Magiera was a Church Organist for over 60 years at various Diocesan Parishes including St. Mary Church West Warwick and the former St. James Church. She was very active in the community and served on the West Warwick Democratic Town Committee, St. Xavier’s Alumni Association, the Pawtuxet Valley Historical Society and the West Warwick Senior Center Board.
She is survived by seven daughters, Rebecca Magiera, Christine Matone (Michael), Patricia Legault (Rene), Linda Plante, Donna Nester, Mary Beth Redmon (Jeff) and Melissa Magiera; a son, Col. John F. Magiera, WWPD (Kathleen); two siblings, Shirley Brown and Paul Francis; eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Michael B. Magiera and sister of the late Elsie O. Jusczyk and William Francis.
Her funeral will be held on Friday, Jan. 26, 2018 at 8:15 am from the PRATA-GALLOGLY Funeral Home, 78 Providence St., West Warwick. A Concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 am in St. Gregory the Great Church, 360 Cowesett Road, Warwick. Interment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, West Warwick.
